Sample-driven, and deliberately narrow
This is the most focused collection in the catalog. Every beat in it sits in the high eighties to low nineties, where the other collections span sixty BPM or more. Boom bap lives in that pocket and there is very little reason to leave it.
The mood profile is different from everything else here too. Where the trap and R&B collections run melancholy, this one runs sentimental and accomplished: reflective rather than sad, and often triumphant. That is the register the genre has always worked in.
Who else these fit
The nearest references across this set are The Alchemist, Curren$y, Benny The Butcher, Larry June, Boldy James and Joey Bada$$. If you write dense, and you want the beat to loop and stay out of your way, this is the collection.
A note on samples
Everything here is original production. Nothing in this collection contains an uncleared sample, which means you are not inheriting a clearance problem with the license. That is a real consideration in a genre built on sampling.
