How it started
Xay Charles is a singer, songwriter, and rapper from Brooklyn. He's also family — we connected through my wife, and the music followed naturally. He heard my beats, heard what I was doing with mixes, and we just started working. No pitch, no business conversation. The sounds matched and that was enough.
The first sessions happened in my living room. A mic, an interface, and whatever we could make work in the space we had. As the records got better and the vision got bigger, we moved to renting rooms at Pirate Studios in NYC — proper isolation, proper monitoring, room to build something that sounds the way it should.
Since 2018, I've recorded, mixed, and produced across everything Xay has released. Some records I built the beat. Some I shaped in the mix. On Seasonal, I produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered the entire track — his writing, my everything else.
